David’s work in optics began over 15 years ago through his leadership of the SightCare Evolution programme. This experience gave him deep insight into the unique challenges and pressures of independent practices: balancing clinical excellence, commercial performance and growing demands around data security and regulation.

Since completing dedicated GDPR qualifications in 2018, David has become a trusted partner to over 50 independent practices, ensuring they meet their legal obligations with clarity and confidence. From compliance audits and DPIAs to staff training, policies and ongoing incident support, David offers a complete service tailored to the optical sector.

His ability to combine real-world business understanding with rigorous data protection expertise sets Vision Data Protect apart. Before specialising in optics, David built a career defined by responsibility, leadership and security. He served in the Royal Air Force as a Communications Specialist, entrusted with Top Secret information and cryptographic material. Senior roles at Heathrow Airport and within the charitable sector further strengthened his operational management and risk governance credentials.

Away from compliance and consulting, David is a proud Grandad, an outdoor enthusiast and devoted Cockapoo owner, keeping life joyful with agility training, mantrailing, skiing and regular Pickleball matches.
